The icons are here!! 4080 - THE COUP Men’s X T-Shirt is now ready for your Hip Hop wardrobe.
It's made of 100% ring-spun cotton and is soft and comfy. The double stitching on the neckline and sleeves add more durability to what is sure to be a favorite!
That 4080 cover is from 1994. It may have been the first national publication to prominently feature the Coup, who at that time were Boots Riley, DJ Pam the Funkstress, and E-Roc. This was around the time of Genocide and Juice, their classic second album for Wild Pitch. This was right when the G-Funk era was in full swing and here was this revolutionary, radical Bay Area hip-hop group with a female DJ, coming up with a completely different narrative -- one that was politically, socially, economically, and culturally conscious -- but still funky. It was that Oakland funk, that Black Panther funk in a hip-hop format.
